ANGAMALY DIARIES MOVIE REVIEW Director Lijo Jose Pellissery is all set to carve a niche for himself by taking a run at experimentation films in Malayalam cinema. After the comic thriller 'Double Barrel' that evoked compliments and criticism, he is back with 'Angamaly Diaries' which has 86 newcomers in key roles. The other specialties of the film are that the script is written by actor Chemban Vinod Jose and it is the first solo production of Vijay Babu (Friday Films). The plot is set in Angamaly, a town in the Ernakulam-Trichur district border. The movie is a realistic approach to the local life in Angamaly with Pepe (Antony Varghese) as the protagonist. The story is usual and has nothing new to offer, but the screenplay that says the proverbial tale of men who live by the sword is gripping and has a fresh feel to it. The life of thugs and henchmen has been portrayed with perfection in a raw manner. The performance by every artist is very realis...
JOMONTE SUVISESHANGAL - MOVIE REVIEW The first Malayalam film to release in 2017, Jomonte Suvisheshangal has two generations joining hands. Sathyan Anthikad, one of the very few directors to have a special Malayali touch in his films and Dulquer Salmaan, one of the most vibrant actors Malayalam cinema has ever produced. The fact that the eagerness for the movie did not die out despite an unanticipated and long delay caused by the cinema strike, shows the depth of love Malayalees have for this wonderful combination. The plot revolves around Jomon, his father Vincent and their family. It focuses on family values and the relationship between Jomon and his father. The 55th film of the director, Jomonte Suvisheshangal has a simple storyline but a fresh and heart touching treatment. The direction has been top class and lifted an otherwise predictable and previously ventured story to be engaging and impressive. The script has been handled with expe...
Puthiya Niyamam Review Movie: Puthiya Niyamam Director: A K Saajan Cast: Mammootty, Nayantara , First things first. Writer-director A K Saajan’s gritty thriller Puthiya Niyamam is an engaging fare for sure, with some fine moments and competent performances from the lead cast. Louis Pothen (Mammootty) is an affectionate husband, who is a lawyer specializing in divorce cases and is also a popular TV anchor. His wife Vasuki Iyer (Nayanatara) is a well-known Kathakali artiste. The entire first half of the film is a series of incidents, which reveals that Vasuki is a troubled woman, under pressure and is really upset of late. The episodes with an anchor named Kani (Rachana Narayanankutty), who is smitten by the hero’s ample charms and some clients who approaches Louis with their divorce cases makes the going a bit lackadaisical during the first half and we wait for something interesting to happen. In fact, the dramatic turnaround...
