JOMONTE SUVISESHANGAL - MOVIE REVIEW
JOMONTE SUVISESHANGAL - MOVIE
REVIEW
The first Malayalam
film to release in 2017, Jomonte Suvisheshangal has two generations joining
hands. Sathyan Anthikad, one of the very few directors to have a special
Malayali touch in his films and Dulquer Salmaan, one of the most vibrant actors
Malayalam cinema has ever produced. The fact that the eagerness for the movie
did not die out despite an unanticipated and long delay caused by the cinema
strike, shows the depth of love Malayalees have for this wonderful combination.
The plot revolves
around Jomon, his father Vincent and their family. It focuses on family values
and the relationship between Jomon and his father. The 55th film of the
director, Jomonte Suvisheshangal has a simple storyline but a fresh and heart
touching treatment. The direction has been top class and lifted an otherwise
predictable and previously ventured story to be engaging and impressive. The
script has been handled with expertise by Iqbal Kuttippuram. The hilarious and
emotional sequences have been executed with quality.
Acting is a very
important factor in movies that have a high emotional as well as fun quotient,
and Jomonte Suvisheshangal is on a high note on acting. The title character of
Jomon has been tailor made for Dulquer and he portrays it to perfection with
ease. Mukesh delivers a stunning performance that declares that there is no one
else in Malayalam industry who could have outdone him. Aishwarya Rajesh will
definitely win many hearts as the female lead but the character played by Anupama
Parameswaran is a big cliche. The cast includes a long list of artists, namely
Innocent, Manobala, Shivaji Guruvayur, Irshad, Vinu Mohan, Jacob Gregory, Indu
Thampi and Muthumani who have delivered good performances.
S Kumar's
cinematography blends in with the story and helps in conveying the director's
vision. Music by Vidyasagar supports the narrative of the film but only one
song 'Neelakasham' has the Vidyasagar master touch in it.
Overall the movie
is a good family entertainer and will satisfy the audience who likes to keep it
simple and engaging.
